The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (RRTC) on Community Integration of Persons with Traumatic Brain Injury at TIRR

R3: Training Family Members as Paraprofessionals: Use of Distance Learning As A Training Tool for Family Members in Rural Areas

Upcoming Product Availability

We have created 6 educational slide presentations that will be used as part of our training to help family members assist persons with injury in compensating for injury-related problems. These presentations were created with input from consumers (family members of persons with TBI) and from professionals working in the area of TBI. The educational presentations are as follows:

Since these presentations are being used as part of a research protocol, they are not available for public use at the current time. However, they will be available on our web site at the close of our study (in about 3 years). All presentations will also be available in Spanish.

While you wait for our slide presentations to be available, you may want to view the family education manual that Dr. Sander created for a previous project. You may use this link to open a copy of the manual, Picking Up The Pieces After TBI: A Guide for Family Members (pdf file). Some of the information from this manual was used to create the slide presentations for the videoconferencing project.
