Community Integration of Persons with Traumatic Brain Injury: Advances in Research and Implications for Treatment
A Research Dissemination Conference held September 26, 2009 in Houston, Texas
The purpose of the conference was to provide rehabilitation professionals with:
- Effective treatment techniques to handle difficult behaviors in rehabilitation patients with TBI,
- Information for caregivers on how to handle cognifitive and behavioral issues after rehabilitation discharge,
- An understanding of acute confusion and impaired awareness of deficits,
- An understanding of substance abuse issues after TBI,
- Techniques for improving social communcation abilities, and
- Ways to provide culturally competent rehabilitation and work with patients from diverse backgrounds.
