- What research should be addressed in the future to further
the field and address the most relevant gaps in our knowledge? What models/methods
should be utilized?
- Research is needed on the effects the faith community can have
on:
- networking for jobs
- transportation
- role definitions
- friendships
- respite
- There is a need to define enhancement of spirituality in the
caregiving support system
- There is a need to define spirituality from research done with
people with TBI
- Research is needed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the
FICA intervention
- Research is needed regarding the effectiveness of integrating
the faith community into the rehabilitation process.
- There needs to be an organized effective way to connect people
with TBI and their families with spirituality resources if the
organized Faith community resources are not a part of their preference.
- In addition to research needs, there was a discussion of some
specific Educational needs:
- There is a need to weave training about disability into
the curriculum of seminary students to facilitate community
integration
- There is a need to add training about spirituality to medical
school and to relate it to the role it can play in community
integration
- What collaborations could be fostered to address this
topic area?
